First Order Circuits: Source Free RC/RL Circuit
A first-order circuit can only contain one energy storage element (a capacitor or an inductor). The circuit will also contain resistance.
So there are two types of first-order circuits:
RC circuit
RL circuit
RC Time constant

Formula for I current response of the RL circuit is an exponential decay of the initial current. Io at time to=0
RL Time constant

So there are two types of first-order circuits:

Formula for V voltage response of the RC circuit is an exponential decay of the initial voltage. Vo at time t=0RL
Formula for I current response of the RL circuit is an exponential decay of the initial current. Io at time to=0
RL Time constant
